	Loyalist Landing Celebration A day-long series of events: · Ecumenical commemorative church service · Loyalist bonfire and rations. Longboat Launching Click Here for more details on this event Loyalist Stamp Issue and Cancellation Monday May 5th Shelburne Post Office for the rest of 2008 all mail will go out with our own Cancellation. Stamp collectors and souvenir hunters alike will be very interested in a number of stamp products being introduced by the Loyalist Landing 2008 Society, in consultation with local collectors and the Shelburne Post Office. These will be available as of May 5^th and will be a colourful reminder of the 225^th anniversary of the Loyalist landing in 1783. The Loyalist Landing 2008 Society invites you to join Post Mistress Susan Nash and staff at a reception to launch the new stamp products at the Post Office on May 5^th from 10 am to 1 pm. The regional manager for Canada Post and Society members will also be on hand to cut the cake. Guests are encouraged to dress Loyalist style for the occasion!

	Special Loyalist Museum Displays The Shelburne Museum Complex, which includes the Dory Shop Museum, the Muir-Cox Shipyard and the Ross-Thomson House & Store Museum, will feature special displays throughout the summer months highlighting the Loyalists and the early days of Shelburne. The Museum is located at 8 Maiden Lane in the historic district and is open from 1st June to 15th October, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. 	Horse and Carriage Tours Enjoy a guided tour of Shelburne’s historic district as you amble along in a period horse-drawn carriage. Mark Henneberry, Shady Pines Country Farm & Country Inn, will be your host. Prince of Wales Historic Dancers Shelburne's own troupe of historic dancers will entertain with 18th Century dance throughout the summer. Loyalist Gatherings - Tea and Displays Every Thursday throughout July and August 2008, 2-4 pm, Shelburne County Archives & Genealogical Society, Water Street, Shelburne. Weekly teas and family displays featuring Loyalist families. Refreshment recipes from Loyalist Foods in Today’s Recipes, a social historical cookbook written by local author Eleanor Robertson Smith, will be served by hosts and hostesses in period dress depicting Loyalist ancestors. This will be an interactive afternoon where visitors can learn about life in the late 18^th century and also discover family roots. 	Graveyard Tours Spend the evening on a guided tour of several of our local graveyards. Discover the meaning of the symbols and images found on the stones and the materials used to make the stones. Our period-dressed guide will enlighten you about the lives of these early ancestors. There are 23 stones marking Loyalist burial sites in these cemeteries. More details to follow.

Original features and architecture typical of the era can still be seen throughout this heritage home. Visitors will be guided by rug hooking enthusiasts who will describe different forms of rug displayed and demonstrate techniques, such as Mi’kmaq designs using natural dyes.
