The Nova Scotia Town Criers' Competition is a two-day event being held on the 17th and 18th of July and kicks off the Grand Reenactment weekend.
Registration takes place on the morning of the 17th - a full schedule of both days' proceedings is part of the Reenactment Weekend Schedule.

The event will take place in the Guild Hall area of Historic Dock Street.

Thursday, 17th at 2pm the Provincial Championship starts and will be followed by an "All Comers" cry which is an opportunity for anyone to try their "voice".
Friday, 18th: The Second Criers' event will take place at 1:30pm.

Also in the evening on Thursday the 17th, there will be a Reception and Banquet for all criers and escorts, volunteers with the Criers' Event along with invited guests, local politicians and business people.

This two-day Town Criers' Event is sanctioned by the Nova Scotia Criers' Guild and will determine the Nova Scotia Town Crier Champion.

Below see some of the Criers in action, the first 4 pictures are from the June 13th, 1983 competition held here in Shelburne as part of the 200th Loyalist Landing Celebration, this was the first North American Town Crier Championship and Shelburne's Town Crier, Perry Wamback, was the winner. The other pictures are from the 2005 Provincial competition held in Annapolis Royal.
