Curtis Mahaney is the master of the wood plane and hand planes all strakes (and other components) to the exact bevels prescribed by Bill Cox the Master Builder. This is one of the hull strakes, notice the curve to make it fit exactly in its place on the hull. One side is planed flat (0 bevel) the other side is bevelled to fit against the next strake to ensure an exact matchup, many of these are planed to be + or - 4 degrees or more and the bevel changes along the length.
